Technical Specifications
| Temperature Range | There are two main types based on temperature: |
| Refrigerators (Positive Temperature) | Maintain temperatures between 2°C to 8°C (approx. 36°F to 46°F) for short-term storage (up to several weeks) without tissue damage from freezing. |
| Freezers (Negative Temperature) | Operate at lower temperatures, typically 0°C to -20°C (approx. 32°F to -4°F), for long-term preservation, often used in forensic institutes. Some specialized units can reach as low as -50°C. |
| Temperature Control System | Utilizes a microprocessor-based digital PID controller with high accuracy (typically ±1°C) for precise monitoring and control. Each chamber often has an independent temperature control system. |
| Construction Material | The interior and exterior are predominantly made of high-grade, corrosion-resistant SS-304 stainless steel for hygiene and durability. |
| Insulation | High-density, CFC-free polyurethane foam (PUF), typically 100mm thick, is used to ensure minimal thermal loss and temperature stability. |
| Capacity and Accessibility | Available in various configurations (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, or more bodies). They feature front-opening, insulated doors with individual locks and keys for security and privacy. |
| Body Trays | Removable, robust stainless steel trays are mounted on rollers or telescopic rails for simplified cadaver handling and easy insertion/extraction. Trays typically have a load capacity of around 150-200 kg. |
| Refrigeration System | Features hermetically sealed, high-performance compressors (often German-made, e.g., Secop) using eco-friendly, CFC-free refrigerants (e.g., R134a, R404A). |
| Safety and Alarms | Equipped with comprehensive alarm systems, including: |
| Door | opening alarms (optional). |
| Power Supply | Typically operate on a standard 220V/50Hz (or 60Hz) power supply, often recommended to be used with a voltage stabilizer. |
| Mobility | The entire unit is usually mounted on lockable castor wheels for ease of movement within the facility. |
